Unit

Meaning :

A “unit” refers to a single measure of something, and “price per unit” means  the cost of one quantity. It is used to figure out the total price based on how many units  you buy or use.

Example :

For instance, if your electricity bill is ₹6 per unit of electricity consumed, and  you use 100 units, you would pay 100 × 6 = ₹600.

How to Understand :

A unit is simply one piece or one measurement of something.

Knowing the price per unit helps you understand:

How prices are calculated.

How to compare costs.

How to control your consumption.

Importance :

It makes pricing easy and clear for everyone.

It helps consumers track their usage of services like electricity, water, and gas.

The concept is used in grocery shopping, billing, and manufacturing.

Understanding price per unit helps you avoid overpaying by knowing how costs break  down.
